(Chapters 1-4) I have just started reading Best Foot Forward by Joan Bauer. It is about a teenager named Jenna Boller. Her dad is in jail because she turned him in for driving while he was drunk. She works at a shoe store and a sibling pair, Tanner and Yaley, tried to steal four pairs of shoes. They were caught and the previous owner, (current owners mom) said she would not press charges against them. Mrs. Gladstone(previous owner) called Yaley's grandmother. Later, Jenna went home to see her sister, Faith, who reminds Jenna that today is her dad's birthday. Faith asks Jenna if she thinks her dad is already drunk. Jenna looks at her watch, it is 8 0'clock and Jenna replies "Yes.".
