Sunday Post 3

Three triplet triceratops were born in the third triangle balanced on a tripod.  When the trio grew up they participated in a triathlon on 3 tricycles.  Before the triathlon the three had to build up their triceps.  The youngest of the three won third place.

Reading Post #2

Women have several roles. Often they are the same in some places as in others. While I was reading The Host I read that Wanda is a female soul. She says that she is female not because of the body she is in, as Jared assumes, but because she is one of the few "mothers" of the souls. Women have roles from supporting an entire family as the sole breadwinner to being a stay-at-home mom and taking care of the house and any children they have. All women can agree that childbearing is one of the most important roles women have. Afterall, women insure that there will be a future for the human race.

Sunday Post 2- A Love Story

His jeans are tattered, his shoes brand new, but
He glances my way as I rove through the inert volcano's cave
This single glance wakes my sleeping heart and brings it to soaring life
As we pass, his shirt brushes my arm
The rise and fall of his chest as he breathes makes me elated
The sulfurous desert like air fuels the tension
We two stroll in tandem towards the babbling creek
He swoops around to speak but decides against it
As he drives his Jeep, me riding shotgun
His sweet smell of light rain makes this reunion even more joyous

Sunday Post 1

So much of spring depends
Upon
the sweet ringing of a birds' song
the dead sound of leaves decomposing
colors explode all around me
beautiful congruities of a promising season

So much of spring depends
Upon
the pulsing heat of a steady ray
the red brightness of the heat
soft grass brushes my exposed calves
the life coming back

Reading Post #1

I am currently reading Stephenie Meyer's The Host. I enjoy reading this book because it is slightly realistic but at the same time not. I am posting about abusive relationships. In the book the relationship between the host, Mel, and Jared is not abusive but in the beginning the relationship between the soul, Wanda, and Jared is. Wanda explains, "..., his arm shot out and the back of his hand smashed into the side of my face" (Meyer 132). There are other occasions in which Jared hits Wanda but this was the first time that Jared had hit her. Mel refuses to accept that Jared will keep hitting her and that determination helps her. In books the relationship gets better. Often times in life there is rarely a happy ending like in books. I'm sure most of you have heard about the relationship between Rhianna and Chris Brown. That is a perfect example of a real life situation without a happy ending. For those of you who have read The Host, you understand why Jared hates Wanda. If you haven't read this book yet I refuse to ruin the entire book for you, you'll have to read it yourself.

Japanese Internment in WW II in the United States

Causes: Pearl Harbor and the fear of spies

Effects: only 10 convictions of spying, poor living conditions, segregation centers, and  migration back to Japan after the war

Millions of innocent Japanese citizens were forced to endure terrible living conditions in segregation centers even though only 10 of those who were imprisoned were convicted of coalition with Japan.  All of these horrible things were forced upon innocent people out of fear of Japanese spies as a result of the Pearl Harbor attack.
